The recent travel disruptions caused by Hurricane Melissa and the storm of the government shutdown had several of our client’s concerned that their travel plans would be interrupted (or even cancelled).

Why Travel Insurance Matters

Travel insurance, also called travel protection, is important because it covers costs associated with disruptions outside of your control. Primarily for health reasons, protection will cover many of your costs if your trip is interrupted or cancelled. With the recent flight delays, travel protection likely would have covered missed cruises (though I didn’t have any clients impacted in that way.)

While I do not always recommend travel protection, more and more I do not discourage it.

If you have a cruise booked and it is cancelled due to weather, travel protection does NOT cover that, however the cruiseline’s insurance will. The protection will cover everything around that cancellation, such as flights and non-refundable hotel stays.

While we work to make your vacation seamless and do everything we can to get you to your destination, things happen. When you book with us, though, I stress about those things so you don’t have to!
